About the MillinerMillinery has been a passion since my earliest memory. My first hats were hand made for me by my grandmothers: knit caps, elegant stain bonnets and crepe paper frivolities. I made my first hat when I was four - out of crepe paper. Later when I was in high school I learned to make fabric hats. But he millinery skills remained dormant until much later when I graduated "magna cum laude" from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Las Angeles and Cal State LA with degrees in Apparel Manufacturing, and Fashion Design and Textiles. It was then that I met milliner and hat supplier, Sandra Leko. She opened the way for my new career. to Sandra and couture milliner Yvonne Lewis I owe continuing gratitude. Since 2001 I have written a monthly column about millinery for the "Cascades Arts and Entertainment" publication. Copies of these articles may be available from time to time on the website. |
